About.

Alan Kent has been self employed for over 30 years, in this time, I have gained a wealth of experience in high quality decorating and building maintenance.

In the mid eighties I trained at the Pardon School of Specialist Decoration in Knightsbridge.

Mr Pardon taught me the art of imitating woods, marbles and other specialist decorative finishes including Trompe-l'oeil painting. Leonard Pardon taught me the traditional techniques used by A.E Baxby and Thomas Kershaw during the Victorian era.

In the last 20 years I've worked in many beautiful homes throughout the Southeast of England, and some of those buildings were Grade 1 listed. I also completed the work on the 1st phase of the Royal Albert Hall renovation.

My work is carried out in watercolour and artist oils. I mix all the glazes myself, and samples are painted on site for the client to choose from.

Here listed are some examples of my finishes:

MARBLES: Rose Breche, Nuvolato, Sienna, Rose Aurora, Vert de Mer, Vert Antique, White Vein, White Carrara, Green Onyx, Golden Onyx, Calacata Gold, Floor Tiling effects, Granites, Lapis Lazuli, etc....

SPECIAL EFFECTS: Malachite, Fossil stones, Tortoiseshell, Trompe l'Oeil, Ragging, Dragging, Multimottle, Shading, Antiquing, Softening effects, Stippling, sponging etc...

WOODGRAINING: Pine, Limed Oak, Bird's Eye Maple, Honduras Mahogany, Light - Medium and Dark Oaks, English and French Walnut Also ordinary types of wood and grain effects, parquet floor effects etc...
